Tundra 5.7L Supercharger · Tuned Yota

Is a Supercharged Tundra Reliable?

Magnuson says yes and lists a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty on its Tundra 5.7L system. That is the maker's claim, not an independent durability test. Magnuson's own pages say the supercharger gear case is sealed and typically needs no routine oil changes, the drive belt is a wear item to inspect, and premium fuel is recommended. We have no published failure-rate data to quote, and we will not invent any.

What is a claim and what is a test

Magnuson's FAQ also says many enthusiasts have run supercharged vehicles for tens of thousands of miles, even 100k+ miles, without engine problems. That is a statement from the manufacturer, not a controlled durability study, and it does not give a failure rate for your truck. Treat every reliability figure from a supercharger maker as the maker's position until independent data exists.

Supercharged Tundra reliability FAQ

Magnuson says it "proudly stands behind its industry leading product reliability" and lists a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty on its Tundra 5.7L system. Those are manufacturer statements, not an independent durability test, and we have no published failure-rate data to put next to them.

Magnuson's FAQ says its superchargers come pre-filled with a sealed high-temperature synthetic oil in the gear case, that there is typically no need for routine supercharger oil changes, and that it recommends inspecting for leaks and checking the oil level at very high mileage. Magnuson's general FAQ does not give a Tundra-specific interval, so confirm the interval for your kit with us or Magnuson.

Magnuson's FAQ calls the drive belt a wear item and says a belt might last 50k+ miles, with periodic inspection (for example at oil changes). That is Magnuson's estimate, not a guarantee. Magnuson's warranty page also lists periodic checks on belt tension.

Magnuson's Tundra 5.7L product page lists a standard 3-year/36,000-mile limited supercharger system warranty, and its warranty page says it is now offering a Limited Power Train Warranty for its supercharger systems. Eligibility and terms are set by Magnuson's published documents, so read them before you buy.

Magnuson's FAQ addresses this by citing the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. We are not your dealership or your attorney, so read your Toyota warranty and Magnuson's warranty together. Our warranty and emissions page covers how we handle it.

Magnuson's FAQ says to use the recommended premium fuel. Use the octane Magnuson and your calibration call for.
